Update on Penny

Just a quick update on Penelope...
~ She is off oxygen :D
~ Her white blood cell is up and in the normal range :D
~ She is breastfeeding every 3 hours and supplementing 15 mls of formula to keep her glucose up
~ She is maintaining her glucose (it was in the 70's before her 6 pm feeding) and therefore is off of her IV fluids
~ The only monitor that she is now wearing is her pulse oximeter
~ Her pediatrician, Dr. Lam, should be coming to see her in the am, I suspect that he will run another CBC to make sure that her white blood cell levels are normal and hopefully will give her the clear to go home.

I was hoping that since she is off of everything but the pulse oximeter that she would be allowed to sleep in our room tonight, but no go. Better safe than sorry... hopefully tomorrow night she will be sleeping happily in our room.. better rest up tonight :D

Announcing Penelope Jean Weber

We are ecstatic to announce the birth of our BEAUTIFUL baby girl, Penelope Jean Weber. Penelope joined our clan on December 30, 2009 at 2:23 am. Penelope weighed in at 6 lbs 14 ounces and is 19 inches long. Despite having to be in the NICU she is doing well. Her oxygen saturation was dropping too low when she slept because she has some fluid in her lungs and had a possible infection in her lungs. At one point the morning she was on 75% oxygen, had a feeding tube, and was receiving IV fluids and anitbiotics. She is now down to 21% oxygen (we suspect she will be off the oxygen in the morning), she is breastfeeding like a champ, and her white blood cell count is doing much better! We look forward to getting to take her home soon! Will post about her delivery later on when I have finally gotten some sleep!

At this point it looks like labor has stopped for the time being and I will probably be headed home in the morning. Which is good news for sure, since every day/week counts for little Miss Penny :) Will keep you posted! Wish me luck on getting some sleep now!

Little Miss Penny Popper

Well, it appears that Miss Penny will be born soon. I am currently at the hospital and in labor. Currently I am 3 cm dilated and have a bulging bag of water (the will not break my water till morning until the high risk drs are here). We will post pictures as soon as we can, she will likely be in the NICU for some time since she is only 34 weeks along. Your prayers are appreciated! We will keep you posted!

Our Cute Boy Nate

Nate has a thing about pacis. Not only does he LOVE his paci, but if there is more than one in his line of sight, he must have them all. I have seen him have one in each and one in his mouth. I have also known him to put two in his mouth at one time and hold onto a third one... which is way funny! He also has a very particular way of picking up his paci. He sticks his pointer finger into the "nipple" part of the paci and then sticks the paci into his mouth.

Nate LOVES food. He has been known on more than one occasion to watch food cook in the oven. In this picture he is waiting for dinner rolls to cook. The first time that I saw him watch food cook was when I was making carrot cake/carrot cupcakes. He stood at the oven with his forehead pressed against the door waiting for them to finish cooking.

The other day Nate and I went to Farmington Pond with Carol and her son Sean and son's biological brother Ryder, Ryder's mom Heather and Ryder's older sister Holland. Nate had fun feeding the ducks, being attacked by geese, throwing rocks into the pond, walking knee high into the pond, and falling down many many times. Nate actually had a good time, despite at least 3 spills which left him with several cuts and bruises. Heather's kids are so cute and it was great to see them again! I am so happy that Carol finally has legal custody of Sean bug and am so thankful that Ryder has his wonderful family!


Nate has learned to say "cheese" over the past few weeks, which is way cute! On the other hand he makes the funniest face when he does it so all of the pictures that I have of him have a silly face, but hey, he is 18 months!

We are so thankful to have Nate in our lives and to know that we are sealed to him (and all of our babies) for eternity! Nate brings us so much joy and happiness and is truly a blessing in our lives! I was having a hard day the other day (yesterday) and was on the phone with Dan bawling because I was stressed about money (not having ANY), getting ready to have a baby when I feel unprepared because we do not have clothes for her, so on and so forth... well Nate was in his room playing and heard me crying so he ran into the living room and looked at me all concerned and then came over and gave me a hug, set on my lap, and wiped (poked) my tears. He is such a wonderful happy boy and I am so thankful for him in my life! Oh, another adorable thing... the other day Nate and I were on the couch playing around and he came up behind me and put his head on my shoulder and said, "lub you". I looked at him and said I love you too (mainly because I was not sure that I had heard him correctly) to which he gave me a kiss! I was so happy, my heart melted!

Well, we have been absolutly insanely busy since arriving home from NC... hence the lack of blogging. Here are a couple of pictures that were taken after our sealing at the Raleigh North Carolina Temple. I have yet to get the pictures off our camera (it is packed), so these are a couple of pictures that I was able to snag from Autumn's facebook :D

The happy "newly-weds" and their beautiful kids! Can I just say what an absolutly unique and special opportunity it was to not only be sealed to my sweetheart and son for time and all eternity, but to get to share that experience with my baby sister, her sweetheart, and their beautiful daughter as well. It was such a joy to be in the bridal room with my sister and to be in the celestial room before our sealings with my husband, sister, and brother-in-law! For those of you who do not know... Dan, Nate and I were sealed during the same session that Autumn, Ian, and Lisa-Jean were sealed... this does not happen often!

Cutie Pie

Nate is such a cute little guy... here are some of the cute things that he can do...

1. He signs... his newest sign in drink. He can also sign eat, more and all done.
2. If you put him in his crib for a nap or night night and you linger too long he will look at you and wave bye bye... clearly he wants you to leave!
3. When he wants to leave (which is often) he will bring you his shoes, go and knock on the door, and wave bye bye
4. Nate is currently sick with Hand, Foot and Mouth (no fun)... he was apparently ready for his medication (and he was right on time) because he brought me his tylenol!
5. Like I said, he is sick and gets easily frustrated because of it... today he was trying to put a book in it's box and he could not get it in. So he started hitting and yelling at it. He then decided that since that was not working, he should throw it, that sure did teach the book a thing or two! Then he finally decided it would probably be best to bring me the book and box so that I could put it in for him.
6. Nate likes to put mommy and daddy's clothes on... too cute :D Hilarious when it is my bra!
7. If you are on the computer and he does not want you on the computer, he shuts the computer.
8. He gives me hugs and kisses.
9. He gives his stuffed animal kisses and gives himself kisses in the mirror :D
10. He blows raspberries on Mommy's tummy (he will not do it to anyone other than mommy though).

Anyway... Nate does tons of cute things and we look forward to having a camera again (thanks for replacing ours Dad) so that we can capture some of the cute things he does!

On the move again

As the majority of you know, we will be moving (again) at the end of August. Char and Dad will be moving to TN for a job that Char was offered and we will be moving into Char's condo until Dan is finished with school! It is by all means a huge upgrade for us and we are looking forward to living in a 3 bedroom 2 bath condo for the next year. We are headed to NC at the end of this week (so excited) for our annual beach trip that we look forward to so much every year and to be sealed as an eternal family in the Raleigh, NC Temple! We will be returning from NC on the 19th and packing up and moving out of our place by the 31st. Just so you know, this is the THIRD time that we are moving within two weeks of my returning from NC... it is nuts and extremely stressful each and every time. The first time I was 8 months pregnant with Nate and therefore not able to help much with the move. The second time I was having to take care of Nate while trying to pack and move... not so easy. This move we will have the longest notice that we have had, which is a benefit. However, I am pregnant again and recovering from my gallbladder removal, so again, I am not much help. Dan and I keep finding ourselves saying, "I cannot wait till" in regards to all kinds of things about this move. I will share some of the things that we are looking forward to. First I want to list a couple of the advantages of living where we live.

1. Close to school and Dan's current job
2. GREAT ward, the ward has truly been a huge blessing to us and we will miss our ward dearly!
3. Close to Nate's Dr., my Dr., and the hospital... all of which are nice for appointments and for when I have baby #2
4. We LOVE this area in general (not so much our current locations, but the downtown in general). We missed the ease of being near trax, the feeling of downtown, and the downtown city life when we lived in Centerville before. We may love this because our first apartment together was here and therefore it feels like home for us, who knows.
5. Like I said, Trax and everything being so close!
6. We generally really enjoy Salt Lake.

OK... so here are a couple of the things that we are looking forward to...
1. Having our home be our home... meaning, we look forward to not being responsible for everything that goes on at the apartment complex, home is also work for me currently.
2. Not having to clean up after 40+ people who must think that I am their mother.
3. A dishwasher
4. A washer and dryer :D
5. No roaches and other things that we cannot control because our neighbors are nasty.
6. Security, meaning we will not be letting random strangers in our home to fill out paperwork.
7. A bathroom that is not connected to Nate's room
8. Three bedrooms, we plan on having the spare room as an office/craft area for us until the new baby is ready to go to it's own room
9. Being able to feel like we are somewhere more permanent
10. Cheap rent (it is not free, but like Carol says, our rent is currently not "free" either)
11. Outlets in NORMAL places, like the bathroom. This may surprise some of you, but we have yet to live in an apartment that actually has outlets in the bathroom... ODD.
12. Central AC!!!
13. More efficient appliances and therefore cheaper electric and gas bills (or at least even to what we are currently paying for a bigger space)
14. Having a fenced in patio that we can open the door for Nate and let him play within our sight on the patio... he loves to be outside!
15. Having somewhere to grill outside
16. The pool when it is warm
17. Not having to call the cops on a weekly basis because someone is an idiot (they vary, but they are always here)
18. Our ward will still start at 1 (despite that we are not looking forward to having sacrament last... that may be difficult with Nate at first)
19. Possibly being able to paint the walls... we have yet to ask Char if this is OK or not and we may not have the money to do it, but it is a possibility!
20. I look forward to having an actually nursery for the new baby, one that I can decorate and nest since I did not really get to do this with Nate before he was born since we were still feeling like we were in transition when we had Nate.
21. Dan thinks that we maybe able to get Utopia out at Char's... it is a computer thing (internet more particularly)...
22. More cabinet space in the kitchen
23. A real kitchen... you know, one that all three of us can be in at once.
24. We love the layout of Char's
25. We will have our own bathroom :D
26. Closet spaces!
27. Being able to have a guest room if we so chose to or find a need to! We can have visitors and they can go to the bathroom without having to go into someone else's room!!!
28. Did I mention Washer and Dryer and dishwasher... we are sadly REALLY excited about these things... having them in our home will be a relief on us as far as laundry and dishes go... which we always have a lot of.
29. Counter space in the kitchen! Living in a 600-800 sq. ft. apartment means you do not have any cabinet space typically... I look forward to being able to actually prepare and cook a full meal in my kitchen!
30. No green carpet... the carpet being green does not bother me other than the fact that because it is so dark it shows EVERY single crumb that Nate creates and he makes a lot of them, trust me.
31. Being able to have pets! We have missed our cat Jack since we have been living here and we look forward to having him back in our home and our family. We will probably be taking care of Tator for awhile as well, which will be nice since Jack will be getting adjusted to us again (OK, mainly getting used to Nate chasing him all the waking hours of the day).

Well, these are just a few of the things that we are looking forward to and trust me, there are more! We are looking forward to what the future holds for us and our little family! We will be glad when Daniel is done with school so that we can hopefully get ourselves out of debt and get into a home of our own, but until then we are SO thankful for Char and Dad not selling the condo and letting us live there for a minumal amount of money! Thank you guys, we look forward to having a home thanks to the two of you! We love you!

I got's a boo boo

Post-op, missing an organ (not really MISSING, just lacking)!

As the vast majority of you know by now, I had my gallbladder removed on Monday (yesterday). I went into the hospital Friday night around 6 because I could not stop vomiting and I was in severe pain (minus the pain this was nothing new during this pregnancy). After getting some pain and anti-nausea meds on board (and LOTS of fluids), my lab results came back saying that my liver enzymes were elevated (and potassium low... not out of the norm for me). The ER doctor ordered an ultrasound on my gallbladder and around 11:30 pm came back and said, "well, Stephanie, you are a disaster. Just kidding, but you do have gallstones and need to be hospitalized and have your gallbladder removed". I was admitted to the hospital at 11:45 and was put N.P.O. The surgeon was supposed to come see me in the morning and arrange surgery. Around 3 pm (morning... HA) the surgeon finally got around to seeing me and sending me home telling me to get in contact with Dr. Mintz (Cheif of Surgery at SLRMC) on Monday to arrange surgery. When I left the hospital I was on a clear liquid diet and was unable to even hold that down. I stayed on a clear liquid diet until around 7 pm on Saturday, at which time I ate a Blueberry Bagel with fat free cream cheese. Within 3 hours I was back to being sick and in pain. So around 10 pm Sunday night we headed back to the ER, where they admitted me again, put me NPO again, and said the surgeon would be in to see me in the AM. Dr. Chachas came and saw me around 10 am and arranged for me to have surgery at 5 pm. I had not seen Nate since Sunday night, so Carol tried to bring him to see me, but I was in pre-op by the time they got there. Surgery went well... even if the Dr. said I have a giant uterus. Dr. Chachas said that I had thousands of stones but that surgery went very well considering I am a bleeder and pregnant. After surgery I got to see my sweet baby boy before Carol took Nate home with her (what a blessing it is to have family near by, do not know what we would do without them)! I spent the rest of the night trying to cope with the pain (waking every hour for one reason or another). Around 2:30 am someone from Labor and Delivery came up to get fetal heart tones. The rest of the day was spent recoping and trying to rest as much as possible. I am in a fair amount of pain because my belly is bloated from the CO2 that they use to expand the abdomin to see your insides with! It is difficult to get comfortable and it looks like I am having a hard time sleeping for more than 3 hours in a row. However, I am doing buch better, I can actually eat real food (which I am thankful for) and keep it down. I am pretty sure that the gallbladder issue is why I have been so sick with this pregnancy. Oh, speaking of, we got another ultrasound while at the hospital because the surgeon said I was measuring 20 weeks along (6 weeks bigger). We are having one baby (thankfully), who is measuring just a couple of days big. My uterus is measuring at 17 weeks on ultrasound, but that is not a huge shock to me, I ran large with Nate as well! So all in all... I am doing much better and looking forward to recovering (hopefully quickly)!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LISA-JEAN AND EVAN!!!

My sister, Autumn, had her baby girl yesterday, July 9! Lisa-jean Denise Foley is a happy, healthy baby, weighing in at 9 lbs 5 oz and is 21 inches long! Autumn pushed for 25 minutes and LJ was born at 6:29 pm. Both mommy and baby are doing well! Autumn and Ian are grinning ear to ear and so happy! We look forward to going to NC in August to meet LJ!

On July 8, my friend Sarah Singleton gave birth to a beautiful baby boy! Evan Scott is 11 lbs 3 ounces (yes, I said 11 pounds) and is 21 inches long! Sarah had a c-section after being induced and is doing great!

Baby #2 at 6 weeks

I have another ultrasound of the baby at 8.5 weeks... but it will not post correctly for some reason!

So, the baby is 10 weeks as of tomorrow, putting the due date at 1/22/10! We were able to get a good heartbeat on doppler today, so the Dr. is pretty confident that this one will be a keeper! I was worried, but hearing the heartbeat today REALLY helped!

Happy Birthday Sweet Boy

Today was Nate's first birthday! We cannot believe that a year has already gone by since our sweet baby boy came into this world! This year has been an amazing year with many first! We look forward to what the next year my hold for us as well. Here is a quick glance at Mr. Nate's first year!

We celebrated Nate's birthday by going out for lunch and having CAKE late this even (about an hour past Nate's bed time). We were planning on having a small get together at our place tonight with a couple of our friends (who Nate adores) but I am feeling flu-ish still so we have postponed that till Thursday! So we sang happy birthday to Nate and ate cake! Then we read Happy Birthday to You by Dr. Seuss and Nate went to bed! It was all and all a great day! Pictures of today to come!!!
