Pickle Face

This could very possibly be my new favorite photo of Nate! Nate loves sour things, especially pickles! He had a lemon the other day as well, which he enjoyed way more than I thought was possible!

We were trying to get a picture of Nate with the fish in his mouth (no hands on the fish), but the one picture that we did get of him doing that turned out not so great!

Christmas pictures are to come...

Private

Well, I put this off for as long as earthly possible and had all but decided that I did not need to go private until last night. Considering that I met Daniel online (and many of my other boyfriends) I was not too worried about the whole blog stalking thing. Like I said, that all changed as of last night. I got a very unwanted e-mail (on facebook) from a person in my past who has had a very distinct (not in a good way) impact on my life. Having said that, we have no common friends, so I know that he searched for me and now that he knows my married name, there is nothing that is stopping him from searching me on google... which if you do... the first thing that pops up is our blog. I want him (and people like him) to have no knowledge of my where abouts or anything that is going on in my life! So, welcome to our New and Improved Private Blog!

Nate's first time in the snow

This is how you will often find me in the morning... baby in one arm, cat in the other... this is not by any means my preferred way to sleep... but if I am to get any sleep at all I just have to give in!
I tried taking some pictures of Nate by the tree... this is probably the cutest one! I just LOVE how blue his eyes are!
I took Nate outside in the snow for the first time! This is possibly my new favorite picture of all time!

I like that you can still see him smile even with his paci in his mouth!

More Thanksgiving Fun and Other Photos!

Nate and his cousin Jameson! Every time that I look at this picture I cannot believe how big my baby has gotten!
Dan and Nate went downstairs and I played with the other rugrats for awhile. Bree insisted upon sitting on my lap while playing :D
For some strange reason Dan hates having his pictures taken... when he does let me take his picture he does not smile... so he did this mocking me smile... I think he is cute!
Nate enjoyed playing with Tyson's overall straps while Tyson sat on his lap!
Nate was peering over the edge of his bouncer to see his toy... TOO CUTE!
My Tarheel baby!
Although he seems much happier to be wearing the State cap... Dan says that Nate must think that it is a U of U cap!

Sippy Sip Sipper

Nate's first time using his sippy cup! He did rather well, he tried to bite the sippy cup instead of drinking out of it, but he was able to drink some once he got the hang of it!

Thanksgiving Fun with Grandpa

Nate loves his Grandpa and his Grandpa really loves him!

Thursday, November 27, 2008

We hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and ate themselves into a Turkey Coma as well! We have been so blessed this past year and are grateful for our wonderful son each and every day of the year! Today also happened to be our sweet boy's 7 month birthday! We cannot believe how much he has grown already!

This picture is of my cousin Catherine's youngest son Tyson sitting on Nate's lap! Tyson is about 4 1/2 months older than Nate and they had a good time with each other today! Tyson just plopped on down on Nate's leg and Nate did not seem to mind... actually I think that he rather enjoyed it since he was now able to play with Tyson's overalls :D

Ouchies

Well, I am now pretty sure that on top of being sick, I also have mastitis (a breast infection). This would explain my EXTREME fatigue the past two weeks, the cold chills, feeling like I am burning up when every one else is comfortable, the body aches... generally feeling like hell! Will talk to the Dr. tomorrow (assuming they are in the office the day before Thanksgiving) to make sure and to get on whatever antibiotics I need to in order to get this cleared up! I would LOVE to get back to feeling like myself and actually have some energy!

Long time

I know I know, long time no blog. We have all been sick for awhile now. I have been sick with the virus that keeps on giving for a little over a week now and am thankful to start feeling a little better now (although last night was by far the worst)! Nate has been sick again and we have taken him to Primary's to have some testing done. We are pretty sure that it is something that he is eating and not a virus or something. Dan is now feeling sick (as of today)! I feel bad for him, I know what is to come and it is not going to be fun for anyone!

6 Month Stats

Weight: 15 lbs (10th Percentile)
Height: 26" (5oth Percentile)

Nate is still a little guy when it comes to his weight (guess that is what happens when you decide to come out 3 weeks early), but he is gaining weight properly, so no worries!

Thankful

We have had another rough week, but instead of complaining about it I am going to tell you what we are thankful for!

Nate has been sick for the past week and a half or so. He has had diarrhea with mucous in it along with rashes on his arms, legs, face, and torso. We have taken him to Primary's twice and had his poo cultured and his pee pee cultured. Thankfully, Nate does not have C-diff or E-coli! The Dr. told us to start treating him with a probiotic... so we started that today. I am thankful that despite not knowing what is going on with my baby, he does not have C-diff or E-coli, ick!

Since buying our Beamer (which Dan has named Susan... odd) we have had trouble with it running... go figure. It has broken down on Dan twice now, both times requiring him to have it towed. Today it broke down in the middle of the highway. Dan immediately called the police in order to have them come and help him get the car off the road safely. Soon after calling 911 he called me to let me know what was going on. The next phone call I got was a panicked Dan. While waiting for the Police to show up another car swerved to miss Dan and bounced off the barrier and crashed. Lucky for us, Dan was smart and stayed in the car while waiting for the cops to come (until the lady crashed and he ran out to her) and Dan was not hit by the car. We are also thankful that she did not hit our car either! She was taken to the ER because her arm hurt, but was other wise OK. Dan was pretty shaken up about it all, understandably so. I am so thankful that Daniel is OK and was not injured. I do not know what I would do if I lost him! I am also thankful that Nate was not with him, oh that would have scared us so bad!

I have to go for now... Nate is crawling all over my lap and chest! PS- Nate is sitting up really well these days!

Opps

OK, so I am not so bright sometimes... I decided to redo our blog (obviously) but now I cannot remember everyone's blog addresses! Please send me an e-mail or post a comment with your blog address! The two people that I know I am missing right off hand, Beth Thaxton and Jaclyn England!

Holy Beamer Batman

So, as long as I have known Dan he has wanted a BMW. Well, as of 10 pm (yeah about 9 hours ago) we are the proud owners of a BMW! We have to replace our Kia (thankfully it will no longer be our problem) and we were able to find a '85 BMW 735i within our price range. There are a few things that need to be worked on, but I was able to talk the seller down $300 so that we can get those things fixed within our budget (like the blower motor)! One of the things that I really like about the car is that the back windows are tinted... not something that I cared about before having Nate, but this is really a nice feature because now we do not have to worry about those stupid little pull down shades for all the back windows! Next step, insurance! Anyone have any recommendations of a good, affordable insurance company?
I'm cool and I know it! His onsie says, "You're looking at a rock star". As soon as we put this little hat on him he acted like he was too cool for us!Dan and I had the pleasure of going over to our friend's, the Pilkingtons (our old neighbors) for dinner the other night. I decided that I would give cupcake bites another go round! Needless to say, this time they went much better... meaning that I am not only willing to post a picture of one of them, but that I was willing to give them away :D I think that these little guys are absolutly yummy, but they are a REALLY DENSE little snack, meaning, the calories really are packed into these bad boys (that and they are HEAVY)!

Calling Aunt Autumn

This video is of Nate talking to his Aunt Autumn on Mommy's cell phone. One of his favorite "toys" is Mommy phone and he LOVES his Auntie Autumn! Sorry the video is so dark, but I hate my camera for a reason (actually, several)!

They Grow Too Fast

This video was taken awhile ago, but since our computer has been down (and still is) for awhile I have not been able to upload it! Nate is doing a lot of fun stuff since this video was taken... such as saying MA! Tonight he said Mama very clearly :D He has also started to crawl! He puts his head down on the floor, pulls his legs under him, then pushes himself forward! He is doing the inch worm crawl :D So cute, but that means so he will be EVERYWHERE!!!

It's that time of year again...

I suppose that this is a preface to the above video... IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFEND, STOP READING MY BLOG. I was going to say, do not watch the video... but if you are really that easily offend, it is probably in your best interest to not read anything that we write... seriously! Having said that, this next little rant is not to anyone in particular or about anyone in particular... so if you happen to be one of the 6783 people who have done any of the following to me... I am not picking you out, nor do I mean to offend you! I do my best to keep from wearing my political views on my sleeve, but I am beginning to find that more and more difficult as of late. I am sick of campaigning, I am sick of other people telling me there political views (if I ask, fine, I ask... but ugh), I am sick of receiving things via my e-mail from people who either 1. Do not know me very well 2. Think that sending me link after link about various political positions is going to change my mind or 3. Do know me well enough, do know that I am not likely to change my opinion based on a 3 minute blurb about why my opinions are wrong/right and therefore they are just TRYING to piss me off. The first 6751 of these did not bother me, but they are really starting to get under my skin. I feel that we are all entitled to our own opinions, right or wrong... let me have mine and I will let you have yours... and I will not tell you that you are wrong or stupid or immoral or anything of the like! Keep sharing your political opinions with me without me asking and I will tell you that you are stupid! Have a great day, please come again!

A Sunbeam, a Sunbeam.....

I had decided before having Nate that I would try to make all of his baby food, but when the time came to start feeding him baby food... I forewent this mainly because I did not have the equipment to puree his food! However, I am pleased to announce that for probably about a week now I have been making all of Nate's food! Dan and I bought a Sunbeam food processor that had good reviews (other than the o-ring giving out fairly quickly... but that can be bought at any auto shop) for making baby food! As soon as I had my processor I was pureeing away! So far I have made Nate green beans, peas, corn, butternut squash, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, plums, nectarines, pears, and I think one or two other things! After pureeing the newest batch of food, I pour the food into ice cube trays and stick them in the freezer until frozen. Then I just pop the like food blocks out, stick them in a freezer bag, label them and back into the freezer they go. His food last 3 months in the freezer! I love being able to just pop out a couple of cubes from the freezer (one cube = a little over an ounce), zap them in the microwave and feed my little guy some yummy food! It is nice to know what is in his food and knowing that it is food that I would eat myself (with some salt)!!!

My First Time

Being tagged that is... my friend Amy tagged me... so here it goes

The Rules:

Link the Person who Tagged you.

Mention rules on your blog.

Tell about 6 quirks of yours.

Tag 6 fellow bloggers to do the same.

Leave a comment to let them know.

1. Toilet Handles. When I am in a public restroom I always flush the toilet with my foot! I cannot stand the thought of touching the toilet seat handle... which of course really only presents a problem when it is one of those "normal" handles (see picture). Although, there is always the flush while holding toilet paper method for such stated handles... but I much prefer using my foot!

2. I have to have my volume set on certain numbers. It does not matter if I am listening to the radio, TV, whatever... the volume has to be on a pre-approved number. I am sure that my number system does not really make any sense to anyone else, but it works for me! It goes something like this... 1,3,5,7,10,13,15,17,20... so on... so it is not really odd or evens that I have a problem with! If the volume is not set on one of these numbers, I get anxious... this used to be much much worse than it currently is!

3. My clothes have to all be hung the same direction in the closet. This is not too quirky to me, but Dan thinks that it is nuts! I really prefer that not only are they all facing the same direction, but that they are organized by long sleeve, 3/4 sleeve, short-sleeve and sleeveless. Then within each category I like from them to be organized by color. The last two are not mandatory, just highly preferred!

4. I have a really hard time posting a blog if there is not at least one picture in the blog... such as a toilet handle!

5. This may not seem too odd to other parents, but perhaps it is odd. I have this almost compulsive NEED to give Nate EVERYTHING that he likes. Case and point... we were at a family function the other day and another little boy (same age as Nate) had a blanket that Nate really liked because of it's satin trim... I felt the overwhelming need to buy one for Nate (despite the fact that Nate has tons of blankets). Now, having said this, Nate does not get everything that I want to get him... we are not made of money of course, but the feelings are certainly there and often overwhelming!

6. Since having Nate, I can no longer go into Target (or any other store for that matter) and just simply NOT go over to the baby section. I cannot fully explain this, but I have to! The child does not even have to be with me for me to feel the overwhelming need to go to the section! Who knows, there may be something over there on sale that we just cannot live without! LOL

Now that I feel like I need to get my OCD under control and that I am going to have a spoiled rotten son.. Tag, your it... Julie, Dave/Catie, Beth, Charity, Angela, and Heather!!!

A few of my favorite things

Bouncing!!!

Smiling, especially at my mommy! :)

Chewing my fingers! Don't they look yummy to you!

Being a puppy! I choose this outfit out all by myself by smiling REALLY big when Mommy showed it to me and not smiling when she showed me the others!

My taggie blankie that my mommy made me!

Computers... I am a n3rd at <3 just like my daddy!

And after a long day of playing, eating, and generally being a cute boy, I enjoy sleeping! I wish that Daddy would not let me sleep here though, but Daddy did not want to wake me, which I understand!

Happy Birthday(ish)!!!

Today is our sweet boy's 5 month birthday! I know, everyone is super thrilled and I suggest that you eat some cake and ice cream to celebrate! I cannot believe that he is already 5 months old... he is growing up way too fast!

Taggie Blankie

OK, I have said it before and I am sure that I will say it again, I am not the most crafty person out there. Having said that... when I do make something that turns out cute (or at least decent) I am happy! I decided to make Nate a Tag Blankie after seeing an easy tutorial on how to make one! I am the type of person that if the project cannot be completed rather quickly (as in I can see the end of the tunnel when I start the project) I will have a really hard time with doing the project (case and point, Nate's sleep sacks that I started before he was born)! I LOVE LOVE LOVE how this blankie turned out and I am rather proud of myself! I have to add that Nate LOVES his blankie too! Nate does not really care for blankets, but he does like this one a lot, which of course makes me very happy! This is not the best picture of the blanket and I will try to get a better pictures when I can (say like one with Nate in it), but you get the basic idea. The blanket is two sided, the primary color hand prints are on a flannel and the primary color polka dots are a cotton! The orange "tags" are a satin ribbon for a different texture than the other "tags" which are more for contrast (yellow ribbon with orange polka dots and rainbow stripped ribbon)! I was origanlly going to make a blue and brown blanket because I found some really pretty blue and brown ribbons at Robert's Craft Store, but they do not sell fabric so I waited till I had the fabric to buy ribbon and where I went did not have any cute blue and brown fabrics really! I am feeling the desire to make another blanket, but Nate does not need another one... so if anyone out there wants one, let me know and I will see what I can do :D

Congrats

This is over due, but I was waiting to get my pictures loaded up before saying this via blogger! CONGRATS TO ADAM AND SARA (King) FLITTON!!!! Adam and Sara were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple and had a beautiful reception the same evening. Here are some of the pictures from the evening!

Mr. and Mrs. Flitton's first dance as husband and wife!

Sara and her daddy!

Sara's brother caught the garter... that was not a difficult task since he was the only single guy there... amazingly!

Me and the cutest baby!

One of my two handsome dates for the evening!

Yum yum

I love how BIG and BLUE his eyes are!

Who, me, dirty?

That is "Turkey Tetrazzini" all over him!

While at a family get together in Lehi on Sunday, celebrating my cousin's return from his mission, we laid Nate on the floor while we played cards because he was asleep. I set our 1 liter Mountain Dew beside him... upon waking up, he decided that he needed some! Who can blame him though, Dew is the nectar of life after all!

Peas Please Take 2

Here is the second video of Nate and his peas! I am sure that there are only a handful of you out there that actually find this interesting, such as Nate's Grandparents and aunts and uncles, but you get to all have to chance to watch it if you would like! Enjoy!

Peas Please

Here is a video of Nate eating peas! Well, in this video he is not eating too much... he is highly distracted by the camera and he is staring at it instead of being all too interested in eating! I also feel the need to add the fact that Nate was eating his 3rd jar of baby food in a row... chunky monkey! I will be posting another video or two later on tonight once Dan is home with our laptop!

Guess Who is Sleeping Through the Night!!!

I don't know, but I know that it is not Nate! As of the last few weeks Nate went from sleeping through the night to waking every 2 hours to eat! AHHHHHH!!!!! I AM TIRED! This post is mostly me venting... sorry! The other night Nate ate 2 1/2 jars of baby food mixed with rice cereal and then he woke up two hours later wanting to nurse! Then he processed to wake up to eat every 1-2 hours! If Nate was overweight or at all chunky I would put this to a stop, but he is still on the lower end of the weight scale for his age... which is amazing to me! For lunch today the kid nursed, then ate a jar of green beans and then a jar of sweet potatoes! Impressive!

We are still waiting on the return of our laptop (it has been away getting repaired for something like a month now)! Once it is returned to us I have plenty of fun videos of Nate to post!!! You maybe wondering what is taking so long to fix... our mouse! That is right, one of the buttons on our built in mouse was broken and apparently it is taking a long time to fix it!
