Geek in training

So we went into the bedroom (That's where the TV is now). Nate asked me what I was doing.

Me - "I'm going to watch some TV or a movie"
Nate proceeds to throw a fit. Steph & I take a few minutes to calm him down.

Me - "Nate, just because I am going to watch a movie doesn't mean I am going to choose it."
(To Stephanie) "I'm realistic. I had no expectation of choosing a movie."
(To Nate) "Would you like to choose a movie?"

"Yeah."

We proceed to look through the book that hold all our DVDs. Nate of course points to Toy Story 2.

Stephanie - "Nate let's look at all the movies to make sure that is the one we want."

We continue to look through the DVDs saying the name of each one to see if Nate wants to watch it. We pass all the Pixar, Disney, and all other children's movies without a response from Nate. Stephanie the says the name of the movie I want to watch. Nate hears the name & looks at the disc. He moves his face closer so he can get a better look. After looking at the disc for about 30 seconds.

"Yeah. Ar War"

Yeah, that's right. My three year old son choose Star Wars & knows what it is.

I am so proud.

It's a miracle!

I am posting... is that a miracle?
Probably!
Speaking of miracles... I am 14 weeks pregnant with baby Weber #3!!!

I have a maternal fetal medicine consult appointment and ultrasound!  I have had some complications with this pregnancy (a small bleed behind the placenta), so I am hoping and praying for good results tomorrow!  I have high hopes that the bleed will have healed up and that I will be able to go on and carry this baby to term.

Anyway, hopefully we will have some nice (healthy) pictures of our baby to be as of tomorrow!!!  We are not planning on finding out what we are having this go round, but I imagine that depends on how many ultrasounds we actually end up having to have (you know, it is harder to keep the gender a secret if we are having ultrasounds every so often).

Wish us luck, send prayers and good vibes our way :)

What We Have Been Doing in NC

So, have you been wondering if we are alive?  Well, we are!  Now for a series of photos to let you know that we are alive and doing stuff :)
We have watched 101 Dalmatians ("dogs") about 101 times over the past 3 days.  We have also watched Toy Story 1 & 2 (Buzz), Monsters Inc ("roar"), and Cars ("vroom") about 101 times a piece!
We have bathed.
We look good (in Sean's shirt)
We played with Peanut Butter Play Dough!
We did laundry (about 101 times over the past 3 days)!
We loved each other (and generally look cute)!
We slept (some of us more than others)!

We ate dirt.
We played!
We laughed!
We got 2 teeth (some of us more than others)!

Oh how they grow!

Nate-isms

Since we are currently living in my mom's house Dan, Nate, Penny and I all stay in one large room.  Penny sleeps in her crib (usually) and the other three of us rotate between the queen bed and the twin bed.  One night Nate and Dan were in the queen and I was in the twin.  Nate woke up in the middle of the night screaming, "Mommy, Mommy"!  He reaches over and feels Dan's hairy arm and screams, "NOT YOU"!

Nate LOVES to swim.  He is learning to swim under water :)  He was swimming from me to the pool's stairs.  As soon as he would come up from under water he would take a breath and say "Ready" and then swim again.

Went swimming one day for a couple of hours.  Nate's eyes were hurting REALLY bad.  I was changing Nate's diaper on the floor while he screamed, cried, and rubbed his eyes.  Then he says...
"owie owie, I'm gonna die".  Seriously have no idea where he picked that one up from.

Nate hit Penny in the head.  Dan says to Nate, "Why did you hit Penny".  Nate says, "It wasn't me".  Dan, "It wasn't you? I just saw you."  Nate, "It was you"

Mommy, "Nate, what's your name?"
Nate, "me"

At the Dr. filling out Nate's paperwork.  Told Nate I was going to write his name on the paper.  Nate, "me"  (see a pattern?)

When we were moving Nate picked up a roll of boxing tape, pulled out a long piece of tape and looks around and says, "Baby!?"

When we were moving Nate goes into his room which we had just finished packing up (other than his bed).  Nate throws his hands up in the air and sighs, "OH MY!"

Cause that's what mommys do

Nate's night time tuck in goes something like this...
I give him a kiss
Give his favorite teddy bear (Thomas) a kiss
Make Thomas give Nate a kiss
Tuck the two of them into bed under Nate's new favorite blankie
Kiss Nate a couple of more times
Tell Nate I love him
Tell them both goodnight and leave

Last night was different...
Nate made me kiss him, Thomas, his puppy, his cow, him, and then... his paci.

What a funny boy

some of my favs from the last few months

Nate learned how to eat whipped cream from a spray can... now he frequently ask for it.

Nate is giving his duck some water to drink.

We have switched over to cloth diapers... which has been an adventure in and of itself. You may see that Nate has green around his mouth, it is paint. He decided to eat the paint and not paint his caterpillar.

Penny smiles now :D

How we found Nate two nights ago.

Dan's sister Alma had baby #4, Kourtney Sue! Kourtney is 2 days old in this picture and Penny is 9 weeks. Kourtney weighed 10 lbs 4 oz at birth and Penny was 11 lbs at her 2 month appointment. They look very similar in size, except Kourtney has a newborn sized head!

Nate loves to help cook!

Update on Penny

Just a quick update on Penelope...
~ She is off oxygen :D
~ Her white blood cell is up and in the normal range :D
~ She is breastfeeding every 3 hours and supplementing 15 mls of formula to keep her glucose up
~ She is maintaining her glucose (it was in the 70's before her 6 pm feeding) and therefore is off of her IV fluids
~ The only monitor that she is now wearing is her pulse oximeter
~ Her pediatrician, Dr. Lam, should be coming to see her in the am, I suspect that he will run another CBC to make sure that her white blood cell levels are normal and hopefully will give her the clear to go home.

I was hoping that since she is off of everything but the pulse oximeter that she would be allowed to sleep in our room tonight, but no go. Better safe than sorry... hopefully tomorrow night she will be sleeping happily in our room.. better rest up tonight :D

Thank you for all of your continued love and support. We appreciate all the kind thoughts, words and prayers and are so very thankful for y'all! Hope you have a wonderful New Year!

Announcing Penelope Jean Weber

We are ecstatic to announce the birth of our BEAUTIFUL baby girl, Penelope Jean Weber. Penelope joined our clan on December 30, 2009 at 2:23 am. Penelope weighed in at 6 lbs 14 ounces and is 19 inches long. Despite having to be in the NICU she is doing well. Her oxygen saturation was dropping too low when she slept because she has some fluid in her lungs and had a possible infection in her lungs. At one point the morning she was on 75% oxygen, had a feeding tube, and was receiving IV fluids and anitbiotics. She is now down to 21% oxygen (we suspect she will be off the oxygen in the morning), she is breastfeeding like a champ, and her white blood cell count is doing much better! We look forward to getting to take her home soon! Will post about her delivery later on when I have finally gotten some sleep!

At this point it looks like labor has stopped for the time being and I will probably be headed home in the morning. Which is good news for sure, since every day/week counts for little Miss Penny :) Will keep you posted! Wish me luck on getting some sleep now!

Our Cute Boy Nate

Nate has a thing about pacis. Not only does he LOVE his paci, but if there is more than one in his line of sight, he must have them all. I have seen him have one in each and one in his mouth. I have also known him to put two in his mouth at one time and hold onto a third one... which is way funny! He also has a very particular way of picking up his paci. He sticks his pointer finger into the "nipple" part of the paci and then sticks the paci into his mouth.

Nate LOVES food. He has been known on more than one occasion to watch food cook in the oven. In this picture he is waiting for dinner rolls to cook. The first time that I saw him watch food cook was when I was making carrot cake/carrot cupcakes. He stood at the oven with his forehead pressed against the door waiting for them to finish cooking.

The other day Nate and I went to Farmington Pond with Carol and her son Sean and son's biological brother Ryder, Ryder's mom Heather and Ryder's older sister Holland. Nate had fun feeding the ducks, being attacked by geese, throwing rocks into the pond, walking knee high into the pond, and falling down many many times. Nate actually had a good time, despite at least 3 spills which left him with several cuts and bruises. Heather's kids are so cute and it was great to see them again! I am so happy that Carol finally has legal custody of Sean bug and am so thankful that Ryder has his wonderful family!

Nate has learned to say "cheese" over the past few weeks, which is way cute! On the other hand he makes the funniest face when he does it so all of the pictures that I have of him have a silly face, but hey, he is 18 months!

We are so thankful to have Nate in our lives and to know that we are sealed to him (and all of our babies) for eternity! Nate brings us so much joy and happiness and is truly a blessing in our lives! I was having a hard day the other day (yesterday) and was on the phone with Dan bawling because I was stressed about money (not having ANY), getting ready to have a baby when I feel unprepared because we do not have clothes for her, so on and so forth... well Nate was in his room playing and heard me crying so he ran into the living room and looked at me all concerned and then came over and gave me a hug, set on my lap, and wiped (poked) my tears. He is such a wonderful happy boy and I am so thankful for him in my life! Oh, another adorable thing... the other day Nate and I were on the couch playing around and he came up behind me and put his head on my shoulder and said, "lub you". I looked at him and said I love you too (mainly because I was not sure that I had heard him correctly) to which he gave me a kiss! I was so happy, my heart melted!
