Put a Bow In It!

Well, despite what I told myself, I went off and did the typical new mom thing and cut my hair. I do not fully understand the psychological need that a new mother feels to cut her hair, but hey! Of course, we all know me and I could not just do the "normal" thing and get a really cute bob or something and I went off and got my hair cut into a mohawk. Now... you will have to wait and see the pictures before you tell me that I am completely insane. I have yet to actually style it into a mohawk, but it is really cute down. Have no fair, I did not go off and shave the sides like you would if I was a dude, but none the less, it is a mohawk. Now... I do have to tell you about some of the thoughts and conversations that occurred during such stated hair cut. I will have you note that my cousin Alika was the one who cut my hair (she is in beauty school) and she was cutting my hair in the kitchen at 11 pm. Dan shaved his hair off right before I got my hair cut and we (Alika and I) conspired to cut his hair into a mohawk so that I could see him with a mohawk, I don't know why, but I really wanted to see him with a mohawk and he would not agree to it. After Dan's hair cut I told Alika that I wanted her to cut my hair into a mohawk, she told me that she could do that, but apparently she thought that I was joking. Then I asked her if she would do it for me tonight and she was like, "What? Your serious?". As I sat down and she got ready to cut she asked me if I was sure that I wanted to do this and I said yes, that it was just hair after all... this has pretty much always been my motto with my hair... it grows back and if I hate it... I can have it cut again! As I was sitting there, having my hair cut, I laughed and Alika asked what I was chuckling about, the conversation went like this...

Alika, "What are you chuckling at?"
Me, "I had not thought about how I was going to wear my hair to church!"
Alika, "In a mohawk!"
Me, "Alika, I am Mormon."
Alika, "So, put a bow in it!"

Alika and I were then talking about what the family was going to think. I told her that if it turned out really bad that I would just blame her and tell everyone that I asked her to cut my hair and told her to cut it however she wanted to and that she cut it into a mohawk. We decided that Carol was going to think that I was nuts. A few minutes later Carol walks into the kitchen to feed the fish and get a glass of milk.

Alika, "Oh crap, it is Carol."
Me, "I can see her in the window"
Carol, "Holy crap" (referring to the hair on the floor) "Wow, that is short, but it will be cute"
Carol walks away from me and starts to feed the fish
Me, "She is cutting it into a mohawk."
Carol, "No she's not"
Me, "Yes she is"
Alika, "She told me that I could do whatever I wanted to."
Some other things were said, which I cannot remember. But I ended up telling Carol that she "could go to bed thinking that she wasn't cutting it into a mohawk". Carol said as she went to bed that next I was going to dye it blue, I told her that I wasn't going to dye it blue, just pink!

As Alika was cutting my hair and I was looking in the hand held mirror I said that you only live once. Alika agreed. To which I said, "I should have done this when I was 20, not 25 and a new mother."

I said that Nate is going to be looking through his baby pictures one day and be like, "What the heck, you had a mohawk when I was a baby". Alika said that she thought that Nate would think that I was the coolest mom ever because of it... I said that he would think that I was nuts!

Oh... I will also have you note... because I know my mom is thinking, "poor Dan"... I asked Dan about 5 times before cutting it if he was really OK with me cutting it like this. He said yes, otherwise I would never have done it. Actually... the way that it came up to begin with is last night Dan and I went to Wal-mart and there was a cashier there that had a really cute mohawk. As we were leaving Dan asked me if I saw the girl with the mohawk and I said that I did and that I thought it was really cute. He said that he actually thought it was really cute too. That is when I said that I thought that I would like to cut my hair like that. One thing lead to another and BAM... I have a mohawk. I will post pictures of my hair soon... I have to play around with it a little and take some pictures!

In other news... Dan got me a camera for my birthday! My birthday is not until the 2nd, but he went ahead and bought it for me since he found a GREAT deal on a GREAT camera! So, now I have a really nice camera to take ALL KINDS of cute pictures of my cute little man! I plan on dressing Nate up in all of my favorite outfits over the next week and taking pictures of him in them and then posting them on here! I also get to take pictures of my funky hair! Dan and I have been planning for some time to buy a good camera so that we could better document Nate's life and our life. I decided that the best way to go about spending that kind of money was to just go ahead and get it as a birthday gift. Dan did a great job on finding such a nice camera for such a great deal! I am all about finding great deals these days (which reminds me... I have to share the great deals that we found at Kid-to-Kid while Mom was here later)! I do not know if it is just that I am so poor that I love finding stuff at a good price or if it is my inner deal finder coming out! I have been raised by a bunch of thrifty women who can always find great deals and I think that it has finally worn off on me now that I am a mom and I LOVE to find great deals, it makes my insides feel all warm :D Anyway... Thank you to Dan for the wonderful birthday present! I look forward to using it for many years to come and getting to document all the amazing adventures that I am sure that we will be taking over the years! I love you baby!
